Funny Habits To The Rescue!

Old habits don't die fast. Habits if not resisted, soon become necessity. And when they are the ones who add to the bliss of life, you wont feel like letting them go by. I don't mind these habits to grab 100% control of me...its good to be their servant than be my own boss in certain areas of life! Its not only me but also the other party at the receiving end that gets benefited out of my quirky habit. I am so very thankful that I have these funny habits that make life lighter!

Blame it to the hormones or the growing demand on my brain as I have to manage schedules of two of my children and one of my mother in law (my better half); that I have started relying more and more on sticky notes. I need a counter strategy for my forgetfulness, you see! These notes are so faithful and loyal... They are like my "Man Friday". Fridge door, wardrobe doors wear the testimony of it! Each one with some reminder...ranging from reminding me from attending the PTA on certain date to filling IT return to asking me to replenish the dwindling stock of fruits! I think I now have forgotten the colour of our fridge as most of it is covered with the colourful sticky notes! Last and most important...these benign notes have lighten my burden...'coz now 3/4th of my household has accepted that I forget things...and I am not at the end of firing range!

Meeting the growing demands of the teenager's appetite is one aspect of life that has taken me to task. Every hour or less, he has started feeling hungry. But then I wonder how he manages to sit in his class from 7am to 1pm, surviving on his breakfast tiffin along with a fruit. For that matter, how about 40 odd such boys and girls in the class, feeling hungry all the time...isn't it like they are from malnourished territory??? I better not worry about it as the teachers do manage the show well. They are better equipped with taming the forever hungry souls!  Getting back to the story of funny habits, here I continue...So my challenge is to present the few handy and healthy food stuff in different styles. Being not so good cook, who lack ideas, I catch it up with phrasing the same dish with some quirky, spooky, funny name! So I end up re-christening the same food stuff and fooling the hungry soul! Its been an old funny habit of rechristening things, that comes to my rescue every day! I cant thank it enough every time I serve my hungry hunk!

Come summer, winter or rainy, I always tuck myself in my blanket from toe to neck, barring only the face! I, at times, get ridiculed as "Mummy (mother) is a real mummy (Egyptian Mummy)". My better half, many a times, had got scared at night when he turned over, half a way through midnight, to face a face of the "Mummy" with mouth wide open...a scene just out of the horror movie! But there is my side of the story too...this habits keeps all the mosquitoes away and it saves my pain to apply mosquito repellent before hitting the bed.

A life is well lived if we pause enough to enjoy the simple joys of life...and when these joys stem from the funny habits, I am so very grateful that they add a feathery light touch to everyday life!

  1. Very true and funny too. Old habits do scare someone or they make someone laugh naturally.
